Callum and His Spaniel Stalker
What the giver told us
We want to make a book to thank Callum, a firefighter here in Glasgow. Last November, our terraced house caught fire in the middle of a freezing night. We got out, but our deaf, fifteen-year-old spaniel, Bramble, was still inside. Callum didn't hesitate. He went straight back into the smoke and emerged carrying a very confused, soot-covered dog. Later that morning, Callum let us sit in the station kitchen drinking awful instant coffee while we waited for the vet. Since then, we have been taking Bramble to visit his favourite hero every month, armed with packets of ginger nuts for the crew. Callum saved our family that night. We just want him to know how incredibly grateful we are, and that he is stuck with a spaniel stalker for life.
